Rasmussen College Enters Candidacy For Accreditation With The Accreditation Council For Business Schools And Programs
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (July 14, 2011) – Rasmussen College has been approved to enter Candidacy for Accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Rasmussen College was awarded a Certificate of Candidacy for Accreditation at an Accreditation Banquet held June 27, 2010 during the 2010 ACBSP Annual Conference in Los Angeles, California.
The Rasmussen College School of Business offers associate’s and bachelor’s degrees online and across the 22 Rasmussen College campuses in specialized fields including management, internet marketing, entrepreneurship, and public accounting. The School of Business just launched degrees in Human Resources and Organizational Leadership and Marketing.
Kathy Heldman is the director of the School of Business at Rasmussen College.
“We strive for nothing short of excellence in the School of Business at Rasmussen College, and we recognize that ACBSP accreditation would not only be validation of the outstanding programs that we offer to our valued students, but it would also be an exceptional opportunity for them to graduate from an ACBSP-accredited college,” Heldman said. “Our students are our top priority, and we are pursuing this high standard of accreditation because we believe it will be a significant benefit to them.”
Rasmussen College has been assigned a mentor who will guide the college through the accreditation process. The college will be required to prepare a self-study of the current business program. Peer evaluators then follow-up with a site visit. The ACBSP Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commission will grant final approval of accreditation.
“We are delighted to welcome Rasmussen College as a candidate for ACBSP accreditation,” said Executive Director Douglas Viehland. “The fact that Rasmussen College is pursuing ACBSP accreditation shows its commitment to providing the highest quality business education for its students.”
ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only business accrediting organization for all associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degree programs. In 2001, ACBSP was recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
ACBSP continues to grow, having recently added its tenth region to better serve member institutions in South Asia. There are currently more than 1,050 campuses, including 541 accredited institutions and 419 campuses in candidacy for accreditation. This also includes 157 institutions from outside the United States representing 50 different countries.
