Rasmussen College Green Bay Campus Honors Its First School Of Nursing Graduates In Traditional Pinning Ceremony
Nine School of Nursing Students Graduate with a Professional Nursing Associate’s degree
GREEN BAY, Wisc. (September 13, 2012) – The Rasmussen College Green Bay campus will honor its first School of Nursing graduates in a traditional pinning ceremony on Friday, September 14, 2012. The pinning ceremony, which can be traced back to the Crusades of the 12th century, is the symbolic welcoming of new nurses into the nursing profession.
“These graduates deserve the greatest respect and honor, and we are very proud of everything they have accomplished,” said William J. Hartman, Dean of Nursing at the Rasmussen College Green Bay campus. “They accepted the challenge of being the first nursing students at the Green Bay campus. I can truly say they have a definite hunger to learn and a desire to succeed, and I look forward to following their careers in our community.”
The nine Professional Nursing Associate’s degree graduates are entering a profession that continues to flourish, even in today’s tough economy. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects registered nurse employment will grow 26 percent between 2010 and 2020.
The pinning ceremony includes a lamp lighting, which symbolizes the care and devotion each nurse administers to the sick and injured. Graduates will also recite the Nightingale Pledge, paying homage to Florence Nightingale, one of the most well-known nurses. Administration and faculty from Rasmussen College will be present at the ceremony, as well as family and friends. The pinning ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Rasmussen College Green Bay campus, which is located at 904 South Taylor Street, Suite 100.
The following graduates will be recognized:
