MINNEAPOLIS (November 25, 2014)–Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college and Public Benefit Corporation, announced today its Health Information Management (HIM) Bachelor’s degree program has earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). CAHIIM is an independent accrediting organization whose mission is to “serve the public interest by establishing and enforcing quality accreditation standards for health informatics and health information management educational programs.” The accreditation provides certification eligibility and increased job marketability for graduates and demonstrates the Rasmussen College commitment to providing the highest-quality education possible for its HIM students.
“We are proud and excited to learn the Rasmussen College Health Information Management Bachelor’s degree program is being recognized for meeting national standards for HIM education and for successfully preparing our students to both work and excel in the HIM field,” said Christian Wright, dean of the School of Health Sciences at Rasmussen College. “Program accreditation by CAHIIM is necessary for a graduate to be eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification exam, a highly respected credential in the healthcare industry that if earned, can position the graduate as a leader in the health information community. We’re pleased to share that past HIM graduates at Rasmussen College are also now eligible to sit for the RHIA certification exam immediately.”
