Rasmussen College Hosts Free Health Expo to Promote Healthier Lifestyles in the New Year
More than 20 vendors educate community members on how to stay healthy through workshops and screenings
OCALA, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2013) – The Rasmussen College School of Health Sciences invites the community to the 2013 Health Expo on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at the Rasmussen College Ocala campus. More than 20 vendors will be attendance at this free event; hosting workshops, performing health and wellness services for the community.
“At a time when living healthier is on most people’s mind, the Rasmussen College Health Expo is the perfect opportunity for people to give their New Year’s resolutions a boost,” said John Maduko, M.D. Chair of Health Sciences at the Rasmussen College Ocala campus.
According to a recent study, the top New Year’s resolutions are to lose weight and exercise more. However, only two-thirds of Americans will actually stick to their resolutions. The Rasmussen College 2013 Health Expo aims to help community members learn how to reach their health goals and stick to them.
“Rasmussen College is dedicated to helping the community meet their health goals, whether it’s losing weight, eating healthy or managing stress,” said Maduko. “At our Health Expo, community members will get one-on-one guidance from local dieticians and wellness coaches and leave with confidence they can be successful.”
Other Health Expo activities include free fitness screenings, massages, stroke prevention information and support services from the American Cancer Society. Several representatives from the Marion County Health Department will also be attendance, as well as staff from Munroe Regional Medical Center. The Health Expo runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at the Rasmussen College Ocala campus, located at 4755 SW 46th Court.
