Rasmussen College Launches Future Nurses of Florida Scholarship
Scholarship to save new students up to $1,600 on their Practical Nursing
Tampa, Fla. (August 5, 2015)–Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college and Public Benefit Corporation, recently launched a Future Nurses of Florida scholarship in an effort to help address the shortage of nurses across the nation. The scholarship, which is immediately available for new students enrolling in the Practical Nursing Diploma program at Rasmussen College, could lower tuition by up to $1,600.* To receive the full award, students must enroll full-time at the Fort Myers, Tampa/Brandon, Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco or Ocala campus.
LPNs in Demand in Florida
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of licensed practical nurses needed across the nation is expected to grow 25 percent by 2022—much faster than the average for all occupations. According to the labor analytics firm Burning Glass, Florida had more than 8,400 jobs postings for LPN/LVNs (licensed vocational nurses) during the past year. In addition, the overall need for healthcare services is increasing as the baby boomer generation ages, which means that LPNs and LVNs are needed in residential care facilities and home health environments.
“Rasmussen College is thrilled to offer our Future Nurses of Florida scholarship—making it more affordable to earn a Licensed Practical Nursing diploma and helping address the shortage of nurses across the nation at the same time,” said Joan Rich, vice president of the School of Nursing at Rasmussen College. “If you are considering a career in nursing, now is the perfect time to take advantage of this opportunity to lower your tuition cost, advance your career and help make a difference in your community.”
At Rasmussen College, students can earn their Practical Nursing diploma in as few as 12 months. Preparation work for the national certification exam, NCLEX-PN, is built into every course. Flex Choice®—which allows students to take some of their general education courses in an online, self-paced format alongside their faculty-led courses at no additional cost—is also available so students can earn their degree more flexibly and more affordably. The Practical Nursing program is also designed to help students continue their education and become a registered nurse (RN) through the Rasmussen College Professional Nursing Mobility Bridge Entrance Option.
