Thomas M. Slagle Named Executive Chairman of Rasmussen, Inc.
Chief Executive Officer of Rasmussen College will work more closely with Board of Directors to define future strategies of Rasmussen, Inc.
MINNEAPOLIS (February 13, 2015)–Rasmussen, Inc., a postsecondary educational services organization, announced today Thomas M. Slagle has been named executive chairman effective immediately. Slagle, who first joined Rasmussen, Inc. in October 2010, has been serving as chief executive officer of Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college and Public Benefit Corporation, which is owned and operated by Rasmussen, Inc. Slagle will continue to serve as CEO of Rasmussen College while expanding into his new role with Rasmussen, Inc.
As executive chairman of Rasmussen, Inc., Slagle will have expanded involvement with the Rasmussen, Inc. Board of Directors as he helps define future strategies for the organization. That includes working closely with incoming Rasmussen College president Dr. Trenda Boyum-Breen and retiring president Kristi Waite, who will assume the role of vice chairwoman of the Board in March. In addition, Slagle will remain closely engaged with Robert E. King, the former executive chairman of Rasmussen, Inc. who has now assumed the role of vice chairman with the organization.
Prior to joining Rasmussen College, Slagle was president and chief operating officer for School Specialty, a leading provider of K-12 supplies and supplementary materials. Before entering the education industry, Slagle spent 23 years commanding various leadership positions in the healthcare field with Johnson & Johnson, Baxter Healthcare and Cardinal Health. Upon leaving Cardinal, he was group president of the $7.5 billion medical segment.
