April 22, 2020 (5:15 p.m.)

This update only applies to students enrolled in their last quarter of the Practical Nursing Diploma, Professional Nursing Associate's degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (A-BSN Entrance Options) programs in the Spring Quarter 2020.

The College’s continued priority is your safety, well-being, and your academic preparation and successful transition to the work force. The College and School of Nursing (SoN) leadership teams continue to review and incorporate additional resources to empower you to continue in your program of study with as few adjustments as possible. This update is in regard to some modifications to the School of Nursing Incomplete Grade and Change of Grade Policies as outlined in the College Catalog and the ATI Policy located in the current version of the 2019-2020 Undergraduate Nursing Student Handbook.

Our goal has always been to ensure that you are prepared to pass your NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN on your first attempt, and part of that preparation is achieved through demonstrated proficiency in ATI Content Mastery Series (CMS) Assessments as well as the Comprehensive Predictor. The College has approved the following policy modifications for the Spring Quarter 2020 only to provide some reprieve in the level of achievement required to be eligible to sit for the ATI Comprehensive Predictor Assessment.

These modifications are effective for students enrolled in a course that delivers two proctored Comprehensive Predictor Assessments in the Spring Quarter 2020 only.

Eligibility to sit for the Comprehensive Predictor Assessment for the Practical Nursing Diploma program is dependent upon the achievement of the following proficiency levels in the ATI Content Mastery Series:

  • Proficiency Level 2 or higher:
    • PN Fundamentals
    • PN Nursing Care of Children
    • PN Pharmacology
    • PN Adult Medical-Surgical
  • Proficiency Level 1 or higher:
    • PN Mental Health
    • PN Maternal Newborn
    • PN Management

Eligibility to sit for the Comprehensive Predictor Assessment for the Professional Nursing Associate’s degree program and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (A-BSN Entrance Option) program is dependent upon the achievement of the following proficiency levels in the ATI Content Mastery Series:

  • Proficiency Level 2 or higher:
    • RN Nursing Care of Children
    • RN Pharmacology
    • RN Leadership
    • RN Adult Medical-Surgical
  • Proficiency Level 1 or higher:
    • RN Fundamentals
    • RN Mental Health
    • RN Maternal Newborn
    • RN Nutrition
    • RN Community Health

Once the identified level is achieved for each CMS Assessment, you will be allowed to sit for the ATI Comprehensive Predictor. All proctored assessments will be available via your current ATI account, and will be made available to you through the remote proctored experience. It is our expectation that you register for the ATI Live Review through web delivery. Information on dates, times, and registration steps for the review will be provided to you from your Dean of Nursing as soon as they are confirmed.

We hope that this exception will allow you some reprieve; our goal is to assist you in this final step towards successfully passing Boards on your first attempt and thus swiftly beginning your nursing career. We remain committed to partnering with you through these rapidly-changing and evolving set of events.
