Rasmussen College Becomes Preferred Education Partner To Knowledge Universe
College will provide Early Childhood Education development courses to Knowledge Universe employees to aid in Professional Development
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Nov. 21, 2011) – Rasmussen College has recently been selected from over 20 colleges and universities to become the new preferred education provider for Knowledge Universe – a global education company with a network of more than 3,700 education locations worldwide, and employing over 40,000 teachers and professional staff. Knowledge Universe is widely known for their Kindercare and Knowledge Beginnings facilities.
The partnership will focus on providing early childhood development training to Knowledge Universe employees through a three course program to help prepare staff to receive their Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Knowledge Universe expects to send between 500-1,000 students through the “CDA Prep” program at Rasmussen College in the first 12 months.
“We are very excited about this new partnership with Knowledge Universe, and being able to offer a portion of our Early Child Education degree curriculum to their employees to help prepare them in best practices,” said Cecelia Westby, director of early childhood education at Rasmussen College. “Rasmussen College supports the mission and vision of Knowledge Universe and their dedication toward providing exceptional care and education to even our youngest community members. This partnership will help prepare Knowledge Universe employees for future professional growth so they may continue to provide high quality care and education to the children and families in their care,
The CDA Prep Program developed for Knowledge Universe is a fully online program consisting of three courses: Foundations of Child Development, Curriculum and Instruction, and Health, Safety and Nutrition. The program will help prepare employees to receive their Child Development Associate credential, the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education. The program culminates with students finalizing their CDA application to the national CDA Council for Professional Recognition.
Knowledge Universe employees that complete the CDA Prep Program will also be able to transfer the credits earned into degree programs for future advancement.
“This partnership is a perfect example of the different levels of support and service that Rasmussen College sets out to deliver,” said Westby. “We are focused on providing educational resources to our community partners when and where it’s needed most.”
