McGruff, the crime dog, was on hand with the sheriff’s department to do finger printing for the kids, and the Pasco County Fire rescue brought out a fire engine and gave a lesson on fire safety. Children enjoyed arts and crafts with the Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department and there was even health information about our four-legged family members courtesy of Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming and East West Animal Hospital. The crowd watched demonstrations by Krav Maga Martial Arts on women’s self defense and they also got to join in on a Zumba demonstration by Marlene Acosta and a Dance Fuzion demonstration by Jaymee Wallace.
Publix gave out samples of their organic and healthy alternatives foods, and Healthy Sips sampled their unique brand of organic and antioxidant coffee. Many other vendors provided giveaways and door prizes, including a $50 gift certificate from Suncoast Running, a free dental exam and x-rays from All Smiles Tampa Bay, and a 45-minute massage from Gateway Chiropractic.
Special guest and American Idol finalist, Jeremy Rosado, rounded out the fun-filled event by signing autographs and taking pictures with the guests and vendors. Overall, the Family Health and Safety Day was a very successful event that the Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco campus plans to make an annual occurrence.
