Burnsville, Minn. (March 28, 2011) – Burnsville resident and Health Information Management degree program coordinator at Rasmussen College, Tina Reynoso, has been chosen to speak at the American Health Information Management Association Faculty Development Institute and Assembly on Education taking place July 23-27, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.
Reynoso will leverage her experience in teaching online classes in her presentation “Techniques for Using Voice Board Communications for Interactive, Asynchronous Classrooms”. A voice board is a communication tool that educators use that goes beyond the traditional online discussion board and allows students and instructors to post audio comments and questions, enhancing virtual classroom discussions.
“We are extremely proud that one of our own has been hand-picked to speak at the AHIMA conference this year,” Vice President of Academics CarieAnn Potenza said. “This is the most important event for health information educators annually, and this is a testament to Tina’s leadership in the field and in the classroom.”
AHIMA, the premiere association for Health Information Management professionals, expects more than 400 faculty members from around the country at the conference to share ideas for health information education, including preparations for the government-sanctioned United States transition to ICD-10-CM/PCS, the updated medical diagnosis coding system. In addition, participants will learn innovative techniques for enhancing health information management education.
In addition to her role as program coordinator, Reynoso also teaches health information at Rasmussen College. She has more than fifteen years of experience in the field and has worked at hospitals, social service agencies, and clinics. Reynoso has a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Communications from Metro State University and an Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology from Moorhead State University. She is currently working toward a Master’s degree at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
