Rasmussen College Opens Brand New Mankato Campus to Students
New campus to provide enhanced learning experience through high-tech classrooms, updated labs and expanded student and faculty spaces
MANKATO, Minn. (Jan. 4, 2018)—Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, today announced the opening of its brand new Mankato campus.* The new campus is located at 1400 Madison Avenue within an existing business center, about a mile from its previous location at Saint Andrews Drive. The single-story facility includes large, high-tech classrooms, new computer labs and simulation equipment, updated health sciences and nursing labs as well as expanded student learning and faculty spaces. The new Mankato campus is now open to students with classes beginning this week.
“Rasmussen College has proudly served Mankato and its surrounding communities for more than 30 years, and throughout this tenure, we have always evolved to meet the needs of our students,” said Kathy Sanger, campus director, Rasmussen College—Mankato. “The spaces within this new campus were designed and outfitted with technology to foster collaboration, real-time feedback and hands-on learning—with both student and faculty roles in mind. We’re confident the building, and its new, vibrant location, will be a positive change for Rasmussen College students and the Mankato community.”
Madison Avenue, the site of the new campus, is an area that has seen tremendous growth over the past decade with new business development and road construction. The area is familiar to College staff, faculty and alumni, as the Rasmussen College—Mankato campus was previously located in this area prior to its most recent Saint Andrews Drive address. The new campus will serve more than 600 students in seven schools of study, including Health Sciences, Nursing, Business, Justice Studies, Education, Technology and Design, and will put students within walking distance of restaurants and other popular services.
New Location to Better Serve Growing Health Sciences and Nursing Student Population
The increased demand for quality healthcare professionals has grown both locally and nationally, and Rasmussen College’s residential student population has notably shifted to include more Health Sciences and Nursing students. Designing the new campus provided the College an opportunity to update its health sciences and nursing labs to include new nursing beds and simulation mannequins, including a mannequin that simulates giving birth. The updated spaces also allow for students to receive instruction and feedback in real-time, and provides an expanded student lounge and study spaces for work between classes.
“Rasmussen College is committed to creating the learning spaces and curriculum that students need in order to be prepared for the complex health settings they will work in upon graduation,” said Sanger. “The combination of this enhanced learning environment, and its proximity to local healthcare employer partners make this a really exciting and mutually beneficial opportunity for Health Sciences and Nursing students and the nearby communities they’ll come to serve.”
