Rasmussen College Partners With Community Health Network To Provide Students With Hands-on Learning Experience
Relationship will provide Medical Laboratory Technician students with career-focused experience from leading healthcare network.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (March 15, 2012) – Rasmussen College School of Health Sciences has partnered with Community Health Network in Berlin, Wis. in order to provide a hands-on learning experience for medical laboratory technician students. Community Health Network (CHN) has been an integral health provider in East Central Wisconsin since 1911 through its continuum of high quality health services with programs that deliver comprehensive care for people of all ages.
“We are excited about this partnership that will allow our Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) students to gain hands-on and industry relevant experience from a true healthcare leader in our community,” said Rasmussen College Green Bay Campus Director Jon Otterbacher. “Community Health Network has been an established leader in our area and in surrounding communities for decades, and the knowledge that they will be able to share with our students is invaluable.”
In this partnership, CHN will integrate up to 12 senior-level medical laboratory technician students from Rasmussen College over the next two years. Students will achieve career-focused experience in blood bank and microbiology.
“I have been impressed with the Rasmussen College students in their preparedness and their enthusiasm to learn,” said Lois Piper, laboratory manager and program leader at CHN. She stated that many local laboratories are committed and excited about training students who are ready and willing to fill potential career positions in the future.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, forecasts indicate that the need for highly qualified medical lab technicians will continue to grow in the next five years, and the volume of laboratory tests will continue to increase as the population grows and more predictive testing continues to be developed.
