Minneapolis (February 27, 2018)—Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, today announced its newly relaunched Cyber Security accelerated Bachelor’s degree-completion program.1 Previously, Rasmussen College offered an Information Security Bachelor’s degree program and has chosen to refresh its curriculum, credential and name to better align with industry and employer demands. Results from the eighth Global Information Security Workforce Study (GISWS) found the workforce gap in cyber security is estimated to be growing, with the projected shortage reaching 1.8 million professionals by 2022. The new Cyber Security program is designed to prepare students to secure proprietary information, defend data and ultimately help to close the nationwide technical skills gap.
“In today’s ever-evolving digital economy, companies can no longer ignore the importance of cyber security. It is imperative our students are prepared to manage critical information, protect priceless data and are ready to navigate the unpredictable,” said Jennifer Ayotte, department dean for the Rasmussen College School of Technology. “By redesigning this degree program, we are able to align with employer demands and industry trends and focus on the importance of security tactics in today’s world.”
Students interested in enrolling in the Cyber Security accelerated Bachelor’s degree-completion program with previous college credits that also meet program entry requirements will be able to complete the program in as few as 18 months.2 The Cyber Security program’s industry-aligned curriculum and hands-on virtual lab learning opportunities will prepare students to take in-demand certification exams upon graduation, allowing them to get into the field and start protecting data and information against malicious cyber threats.Additionally, the program is offered with Flex Choice®–a more flexible and affordable learning option that allows students to combine traditional courses and self-directed assessments. Enrollment is immediately available with courses beginning in April.
