Rasmussen College to Host Nationwide Summer Career Expo
Local Events Kick Off Simultaneously at 21 Campuses August 16; Bi-Annual Expo Highlights Secrets to Job Search Success, Introduces Students and Graduates to Local Job Opportunities
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Aug. 6, 2012) – As the national job market continues its slow but steady recovery, Rasmussen College is gearing up for its annual nationwide Summer Career and Networking Expo set for Thursday, August 16 at 21 Rasmussen College locations around the country, featuring simultaneous workshops, webinars and networking events that give students an opportunity to enhance their career search skills and meet with potential local employers. The event kicks off with a number of preview events starting the week of August 6. Admission to all events is free for Rasmussen College students, graduates and the general public.
Designed to give current Rasmussen College students and recent graduates a distinct advantage over other candidates in their career search, the Summer Expo will focus primarily on improving job search success. Workshops, webinars and other events will provide tips to help participants ‘wow’ potential employers by putting their best face forward, on paper, online and in person. Rasmussen College career services professionals, as well as local business partners at each campus location, will assist participants in refining their resume, researching potential employers, improving their online and in-person professional networking skills and honing their interviewing techniques to improve their professional potential.
“We all know that you only get one chance to make a first impression, and in this tough job market, that first impression can make or break your chances of getting a great opportunity at an exciting new career,” said Tamryn Hennessy, national director of corporate partnerships and career services with Rasmussen College. “This Expo is designed to help job seekers prepare to make an excellent impression that will make them stand out among other candidates.”
In addition to webinars and seminars covering success tips in specific industries, the Expo will include opportunities to network with local professionals working in key career fields to provide participants with real-world tips for landing a job in their chosen industry. Dozens of local companies in the healthcare, retail, business services, insurance and other industries will participate at Rasmussen College campus locations across the country.
“We will also be offering all attendees free advice on building their own LinkedIn profile to help them make a greater impact as well,” said Hennessy.
