Rasmussen Launches Medical Assisting Program at Bismarck Campus

BISMARCK, N.D. (August 6, 2012) – Rasmussen College today announced the launch of its Medical Assisting Associate’s Degree and Diploma programs as part of its growing School of Health Sciences curriculum at the Bismarck, N.D. campus. These programs prepare students for an exciting career in direct patient care and provide a solid foundation for continuing education and career advancement.
As one of the fastest-growing fields in healthcare, demand for medical assistants is expected to grow by nearly 35 percent, and professionals in the field can earn upwards of $33,000 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics. Knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate medical assistants play a critical and memorable role in patients’ well-being, providing direct care services such as measuring vital signs, administering injections and collecting blood samples. The medical assistant role is crucial in maintaining high-quality patient care and creating a positive patient experience, often in a non-critical care setting.

The Rasmussen College Medical Assisting program combines practical and comprehensive coursework in anatomy, physiology, administering injections, performing EKGs and venipuncture with a 240-hour clinical externship. Courses can be completed through a combination of on-campus and online classes led by dedicated instructors with practical industry background and experience. As part of the program, students prepare for a national credentialing exam, and Rasmussen College offers a wide range of career search and placement assistance opportunities to help graduates secure a position in their chosen field and location.
