Rasmussen College Tampa Bay Area Nursing Programs Earn ACEN Accreditation
National accreditation highlights the College's commitment to meeting and exceeding nursing education standards
Tampa, Fla. (August 17, 2016)–Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, today announced its Professional Nursing Associate’s degree program in New Port Richey/West Pasco and Practical Nursing Diploma program in Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco have earned programmatic accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).1 Accreditation signifies the New Port Richey/West Pasco and Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco nursing programs have met or exceeded standards and criteria for educational quality in nursing curriculum and preparation for nursing students to work successfully in the profession. The College’s practical nursing program in Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco is now one of only four practical nursing programs in the state to earn ACEN programmatic accreditation.
“Rasmussen College is committed to delivering the highest standard of education across all of our nursing programs,” said Dr. Joan Rich, vice president of nursing at Rasmussen College. “The accreditation process through ACEN is a rigorous, voluntary and faculty-driven process that often takes more than a year to complete. Successfully fulfilling ACEN’s requirements and achieving accreditation signifies the College is delivering on our responsibility to offer exceptional nursing education for our New Port Richey/West Pasco and Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco students.”
About the Rasmussen College ACEN-Accredited Nursing Programs
The Rasmussen College Practical Nursing Diploma program is designed to help students launch a career as a licensed practical nurse and can be completed in as few as 12 months.2 The College’s Professional Nursing Associate’s degree program offers a path to a career as a registered nurse (RN). It can be completed in as few as 18 months.2 Upon graduation, nursing students are prepared for the NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN exam.
In addition to its professional and practical nursing programs, Rasmussen College offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program with three entrance options. The RN to BSN Entrance Option is for students who already have obtained their RN license through an associate’s degree program (or diploma and/or certificate) and are looking to advance their nursing careers by earning their BSN degree. The option is offered fully online and can be completed in as few as 12 months.2 Additionally, at the Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco campus, Rasmussen College offers two accelerated, pre-licensure entrance options for its BSN degree. These entrance options are designed for students who are committed to the nursing profession and eager to launch their careers as quickly as possible. Depending on whether a student already has a bachelor’s degree, they can earn their BSN in as few as 18 to 33 months.2 The Rasmussen College BSN degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).3
All nursing courses are taught by experienced nurse faculty. Along with simulation experiences in state-of-the-art nursing labs, students also have access to a variety of clinical opportunities in the Tampa Bay area. Also, with no waiting lists for qualified students and four start dates per year, students can start sooner and launch their nursing careers faster.
