Dayton, Ohio (April 11, 2011) – Rasmussen College online faculty member Heather Zink of Dayton, Ohio has been chosen to present at the International Online Conference on April 27, 2011. Zink will present as part of a panel on using mobile technologies in higher education, specifically focusing on Twitter & podcasting to connect with students and reach them via their mobile device.
Joining Zink on the panel will be Purdue University Director of Informatics Kyle Bowen and Northern Illinois University Assistant Director of the Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center Jason Rhode.
Zink has been leveraging technology in her online classroom for years. Since 2008, she has been podcasting on topics such as medical terminology, medical law and ethics, and other healthcare related courses for her students.
“Heather’s success as an online faculty member is due to her commitment to our students, her passion for the field, and her ability to utilize the latest technology advancements to enhance her students’ experience in the online classroom,” Rasmussen College Vice President of Academic Affairs Carie Ann Potenza said. “An invitation to present at the International Online Conference is an honor, and we congratulate Heather on this achievement.”
In her role at Rasmussen College, Zink teaches online classes in the School of Allied Health, where she teaches students seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician program, Medical Assisting degree programs, and more. Prior to joining Rasmussen, Zink worked in the clinical laboratory as a medical technologist for more than seven years. Zink received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Medical Technology from Ohio Northern University and is currently working to earn her Master’s degree in Health Administration from St. Joseph’s University. Her article, “Connecting with e-Learners Through Podcasting,” was published in eLearn Magazine in July 2010.
This is the ninth annual meeting of the International Online Conference, and it will focus exclusively on technology such as smartphones, tablets, eBooks, and their application in higher education.
