10 Great Job Blogs

Whether you are a recent college graduate, or adult looking for a career change, it’s important to equip yourself with the knowledge about the job application and interviewing process. Blogs are one great resource to cross your “t’s” and dot your “i’s” when it comes to prepping for your impending career. Check out the list of our favorite blogs for job seekers:

1. Brazen Careerist

Great blogs about the “intersection of work and life”; Brazen Careerist, Penelope, separates her blogs into multiple columns and allows you to view a random post just by clicking “go”! She also has a variety of guest bloggers to review.

2. Tory Johnson

Tory is the Workplace contributor on “Good Morning America” and the CEO of Women For Hire. She has great advice for women and men alike and also runs a great Twitter feed - @ToryJohnson. She also writes about great ways to make money by working from home!

3. Monster™

Known mostly as a traditional career search site, Monster™ also has great tools and advice along with job seeking. They have multiple “communities” that allows you to read and participate in discussions. You can also create and post your resume as well as see samples if needed.

4. Career Builder™

Also known as a traditional job search site, Career Builder has a multitude of resources for job seekers. In addition to searching for jobs on the site, Career Builder will send you job recommendations directly to your email. Similar to Monster, you can get advice, view resources and even search out Educational resources.

5. Indeed
One of the best job search websites around in my opinion. Indeed allows you to search and view job postings from all types of websites on this one site. You can even set job search alerts based on key words- as many as you would like! Set alerts for reception, nursing, computers, police or any other keyword that fits your career search. A new feature also allows you to upload your resume for view. (Also check out www.mnworks.org for strictly local postings).

6. Personal Branding

This blog is great in that it “teaches you how to create your career and command your future, using the personal branding process.” Personal branding is essentially marketing YOU! This is a great website for personal use or how to manage your personal brand online while job searching. There are great articles, tips and starter guides all of which are KEY for all you social media hounds out there. You can follow the author of this blog on Twitter as well.

7. The Job Search Guy

With various resources such as resume service, interview prep, job search tips and the hidden market; this guy has it covered! In addition there are blogs, videos and podcasts to give you even more information. I would certainly suggest checking out the Hidden Job Market tab for great information.

8. Career Hub

“Free advice from career experts” is what makes up Career Hub. There are many writers giving advice on specific careers while utilizing current events and trends. The website is founded by the President of Blue Sky Resumes – Louise Fletcher.

9. Guerrilla Job Hunting

This site boasts creative ways to search…because it’s a jungle out there! Guerrilla will help you stand out from the pack and utilize new and exciting ways to job search and apply because, “the way people get hired has changed dramatically”. The site also helps you recognize scams and gives advice on great networking.

10. Lindsey Pollak

I’ve saved the best for last (in my opinion). Pollak is the author of “Getting from College to Career” a must read for all college students. This blog is listed on the Forbes “Top 100 Websites for Women” and Pollak is also keeps a great Twitter feed. Lindsey writes on all things job-search related from Savy Social Networking to Career Trends and Goal Setting.
