Admissions Spotlight: How to Have a Successful Career in Admissions
By Julie Lemole on 04/05/2012
In this admissions spotlight, Julie Iemole sat down with Julie Olson to find out more about her career in admissions, advice she has for potential students, and some fun facts about herself.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: When I get to see one of my students on the graduation roster, and when I hear about the great job they have landed then I know that I have helped change a life.
Q: Can you describe your typical day at Rasmussen College?
A: There is no typical day in my job, which is one of the great things about it! The most important part is to assist the needs of current as well as prospective students. Ongoing training is also a very important part of my job.
Q: What advice could you offer to someone thinking about going back to school?
A: It’s important to research the area that you will be working in for guidance when choosing a degree. For example, if you are considering a career within Health Sciences you may want to speak with employees of a clinic or even volunteer to learn more. All of this may push you out of your comfort zone but it will give you some great insight into the career field that you are considering.
